We’ve had some problems with the mailing list and they were traced to the admin mailbox filling up. It has been cleared out and we found that a handful of former users had their e-mail addresses deleted on their end and it was reporting to us every time they were sent a GAPAS e-mail. We’ve removed the old users from the list and cleared out any users who started and never confirmed and people who tried to unsubscribe and didn’t answer the follow-up e-mail. It should be clean now. We’ve also seen some messages bounce back from certain users that are on Yahoo/Bellsouth, AOL, Etc. and others go to them without issue. So we’re watching and it looks like it’s a bit more healthy than it’s been. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. And remember that if you want to unsubscribe, just click the button above, pick unsubscribe and confirm the e-mail that you get. Easy on and easy off!
GAPAS was created almost 20 years ago as a way for Georgia pinball collectors to talk about games, share restoration tips, organize parties, and sell games, usually at a discount to each other.
There were very few venues to do this with back then. You had RGP on UseNet IF you could find a way to get to it (Before Google), eBay, and some individual’s websites. GAPAS is great at being a local resource for the people of GA.
I’d like to ask that members of the group respect the spirit of what the group is about and not “flip” games here. What I mean is that a person buys a game from another venue and immediately lists it here for sale at a higher price without adding any value.
I used to call out people on UseNet for this all the time and caused quite a ripple a couple of times.
I think this IS a bannable offense but not without warning so If I’m alerted to you doing it, I’ll send you an e-mail requesting that you stop. If you continue, I’ll remove your account.
I do want to encourage people to list games for sale AT A DISCOUNT. I see no problem in charging more than you paid if you add value to it by cleaning, fixing, restoring, etc. And WHY would you offer a discount over other venues? Because GAPAS is free! It puts you in touch with other local “Pinheads” and alerts you to events local to GA. Your audience will drive over to pick up a game rather than have to ship it. That’s easier for everyone.
Do I accept donations? Yes, just to compensate for the cost of hosting the site/list, but I’ll never favor anyone for contributing (and allow them to break the rules). And Many Thanks to those that have contributed to keeping us running. It is greatly appreciated.
On July 12-14, 2019, the 6th annual Southern Fried Gaming Expo will be held in Atlanta, GA at the Renaissance Waverly hotel. This is a huge event with over 200 arcade and Pinball games, tabletop games, guest speakers, vendors, and even wrestling. If you’re anywhere near Atlanta that weekend, you need to be at this show!

Since the website isn’t what GAPAS is about, I just let it slip. We’re an old-school mailing list. People like it that way. And you can subscribe and un-subscribe any time you want – Just jump on the Subscribe/UnSubscribe page above. What do you get? Not a bunch of advertisers but you do get updates on local pinball events and a lot of great pinball talk. So don’t let me stop you; Go join up!
I grabbed a few shots of our recent AC/DC party – go see the Pictures section. A good time was had by all! Everyone was talking about PinSwap!
I have been wanting to add a picture gallery of past GAPAS events and I figured that the time had come. I have a bunch of pictures from past GAPAS parties and such and I’ll put them on the system as I can. Of course Python Anghelo’s appearance at my house had to have a gallery so it’s our first. I have a bunch of pictures to put up. If anyone has any to add, send me a note.
This web page is NOT the focus of GAPAS. GAPAS is a mailing list that comes to you by e-mail. If you are not signed up, click on the link marked Subscribe/Unsubscribe above. You can become a member there or delete your membership. When you sign up, you’ll get an e-mail from the list provider to confirm your membership. Click on the link in the e-mail and you’re now a part of GAPAS. You can stop getting the e-mails at any time by going back to the subscribe page and telling it to delete you. The Moderators can not subscribe or delete you from the list, only you can do it!
I received an e-mail from a list member that was hesitant to send a “For Sale or Trade Ad” because he didn’t want to start a long thread about what game manufacturer is best.
I’d like to ask that “For Sale / Wanted” posts not have additional comments unrelated to buying or selling added. I’d also like to encourage everyone to post things they are selling so we can keep games flowing between members.
Thanks – Al –
I had to re-start the website because of complaints that it had a virus. I never detected one, but many of you told me you had. We have 111 people signed up right now, but about 13 of those never confirmed the e-mail so they aren’t getting the messages. I’m going to write the 13 and inform them how to re-do their membership after I delete them. Remember that you will get an e-mail after you sign up. You have to confirm that e-mail by replying back to actually get on the list. Keep Flippin’ – Al Warner
The original list has been sent an e-mail asking them to return. 60 People have signed up as of this post. It’s getting there. A few people have asked if we should go to a Forum type system like “The Bash”. We took a poll and the answer was a resounding “No”. Democarcy at work!
